THE HUMAN FLY
The Human Fly is probably indie-soft-rock, but hates that term and is slowly working up to the stage of acceptance. The project was formed in 2012 by principal songwriter Robert Mathis (he/him) recording grim, experimental acoustic songs in his Virginia apartment. After a period of productivity, which spurned cult bedroom release 'everything feels bad all at once', The Human Fly went dark. It wasn't until 2017 that the project re-emerged with the lush, expansive 'Gruesome', courtesy of Invertebrate Records. With the help of producer Andi Jones (they/them), Mathis was able to muster up enough effort to breathe life into the works written in the interim, weaving together nine heartfelt meditations on the years Mathis spent in Virginia. The record explores a wide palette of instrumentation inspired by kindred spirits such as Sparklehorse and Pinback, but keeps Mathis' raspy vocals and an acoustic guitar at the core, leaving the listener feeling oddly wistful, inexplicably nostalgic. The project has since expanded to a formalized five-piece lineup, splitting members in between New York and Philadelphia. The group is currently focused on touring in 2019 as well as a follow-up to Gruesome..
IVAMAE
Ivamae is a singer-songwriter based in the queen city of Burlington, Vermont. Spontaneously debuting on music scene in 2015, immediately captivating audiences with her heartfelt lyrics and soulful delivery.
Her original songs combine introspective, catchy verses and sultry R&B inspired vocals over an electric playing style that gently blends R&B, jazz and folk. Velvety vocals, ambient guitar playing, and a charming stage presence combine to swoon listeners with every performance.
Ivamae released her first EP, "Ocean Studios" in early 2016, and is in the process of recording her first full length LP to be released at the end of 2017.
Sensuous, honest, and a genre all her own, ivamae uniquely stands out in the singer/songwriter community. A show not to be missed.
ISAIAH PALMERI
Isaiah Palmeri is a Burlington, VT based artist who received his BFA from Alfred University where he studied new media and ceramics. Using video and sculpture he transforms the surface of the sculptures he builds by projection mapping. Mundane unplanned video is often used and re-contextualized in these sculptures creating opportunities for discovery in otherwise underwhelming footage.
